The Sustainability Awards recognise innovation and leadership
by the spa industry, in support of a vital planet and vital
people.
Winners include Michael Bruggeman, CEO of skincare brand
Organic Male, who received the Dedicated Contributor Award.
Mohonk Mountain House, a castle resort near New York City,
received the award for Sustainable Building and Complexions Spa
won the Leadership in Sustainability award for a day spa.
American environmentalist Paul Hawken was given the Visionary
Award while Hawaiian skincare brand Honua was named Sustainable
Spa Brand.
Spa Anjali in Colorado won the Leadership in Sustainability for
a wellness centre and spa linen brand Comphy Co was commended
for Leadership in Sustainability for equipment.
Karen Short, GSN board president, says: “Proactively caring for
the health of our planet and people is what the spa industry
has always been about. By recognising the achievements in spa
and sustainability, GSN elevates the awareness of success
stories to inspire and create positive change.”
The awards were judged by Rona Berg, editor in chief of Organic
Spa magazine, Julie Keller Callaghan, editor in chief of
American Spa magazine, Debra Duneier, founder of EcoChi, Glenn
Hasek, editor of Green Lodging news and Ulli Peck, founder and
owner of The Wellness Agency.
