New Icelandic spa set to make waves this April

The Spa at the Retreat, Blue Lagoon takes full advantage
of its mineral-rich namesake’s revitalizing waters.
Opening on April 1, it will offer dry heat, steam heat,
massage, fire, a panoramic viewing deck and a cold air well.

The spa journey involves a Blue Lagoon Ritual – an exhilarating
cycle of wellbeing where guests can experience the treasures of
geothermal seawater: mineral salt, silica, and algae.

Blue Lagoon algae is claimed to renew, nourish and moisturise
your skin while the mineral salts exfoliate and stimulate
circulation. Silica, the Blue Lagoon’s iconic white mineral,
cleanses and strengthens the skin.

The hotel itself is located atop 800-year-old, moss-covered
lava flow. It has 62 suites, many of which are encircled by the
waters of the lagoon. There are five types of suites, including
Moss Junior (with views of the moss-covered landscape), Lagoon
View, Lava View, the Moss Suite, and the Lagoon Suite — which
has the lagoon right outside the door.
